Coronavirus crisis: Adecco Group Job Market Index with 26% downturn

Zurich, 6 April 2020 – The new Adecco Group Swiss Job Market Index shows a strong downturn in published vacancy postings during the coronavirus crisis. After the Federal Council had declared an «extraordinary situation» on 16 March, the total amount of postings on job boards declined by about 26% in only two weeks.

For the period before the effects of the crisis became visible, the Job Market Index (2020, 1st quarter) had still indicated a 4% plus compared with the same quarter of last year. In this pre-coronavirus period, particularly strong increases in labour demand (20% and higher) were observed for jobs in the health and construction sectors. These results are part of a new publication of the Swiss Job Market Monitor in cooperation with the Adecco Group.
