Swiss Job Market Monitor

Skill shortages slightly increasing in 2019

The Skills Shortage Index for 2019 shows that the lack of skilled labour was strongest with regards to engineers, technical occupations, and trustees. In many other occupations, there were more unemployed looking for a job than vacancies to be filled. For example, opportunities for employment were relatively slim in the cleaning, hygiene and personal care sectors.

The Skills Shortage Index is released every November as part of a cooperation between the Swiss Job Market Monitor and the Adecco Group Switzerland. The index quantifies the relationship between vacancies and the unemployed within occupational groups.
