A successful first job search and successful entry into the world of work help to determine the subsequent career success of those completing vocational training. Against this background, the Swiss Commercial Employees’ Association (KV Schweiz) has for several years carried out regular surveys of those completing basic commercial training (commercial apprenticeships), asking about the training itself and their satisfaction with it, and about the labour situation and their career prospects as they enter working life. Each contingent of trainees is surveyed shortly after completing their training in July, and again in November. With a view to redesigning the 2012 survey and optimizing the methods used, KV Schweiz and the Swiss Job Market Monitor agreed on a collaboration. One of the aims of this is to make the best possible use of existing synergies between the survey of commercial training graduates and the VET graduate employment barometer created by the Swiss Job Market Monitor.
